Leather Seats

Leather Seats

Postby FLASH » Wed Feb 25, 2004 8:06 pm

I've neen contemplating for my next big project as either the TRD Kit or Leather seats, however, I don't know how much or how to get the leather seats.
Where is the cheapest place to get them? I want the back seat and two front ones in the Ivory interior. Could I try a junkyard, and how would i know what seats would fit, like do Camry seats fit or just the solara?

Help!

About a year ago, there was an offer from a company called Attention to Detail, offering a leather package from Katzkin. It was reasonably priced, so I bought the package and have been pleased with it's looks and quality. Try doing a SEARCH function on Katzkin, and you should be able to find it.

I've looked at the katzkin stuff too... they offer a wide variety of styles and colors, even two tone in case you have that wierd beige interior. I think I remember seeing a price of abt $750-800 for the upper level two tone set. Check out these sites www.katzkin.com and www.autoleathers.com Autoleathers is the authorized dealer and has a lot of information about ordering and installation, you can even buy seat heaters...

Thanks guys. How much would the dealer charge do you think? I'd rather not just order the kit and then have to get it installed and all...id rather just go, drop it off and get it back. Plus all of their installation places are pretty far from me... :(

The set that I bought was just under $600, but that was part of the special deal that was offered on Solaraguy last year. The installation cost me around $275, but I had to shop around. Luckily, there are a number of installers fairly close to where I live.

The stock leather seat has no back support (even with the lumber support) at all. My back hurt like hell after 1-2 hours of driving.

If your dishing that much on leather seats...I would just go ahead and get some aftermarket sparco and likewise seats! Same the money on the seats and get the kit! I've searched a few junkyards..was quoted $475 for a 2002 solara leather seats swap (installation included) for my ovory cloth seats...went in to look at it...but i really hate solara leather seats...the perforated leather..(the ones' with holes..breathable leather). I like all leather..(like my camry's and my Es's). But talk to a junk shop, they might do a swap+installation!

The part that's supposed to support your spine is not straight at all. It curves and it hurts my back.

yeah it depends on each individual back. Some peeps need more support than others. I would go for the kit instead and install it myself.

one key thing to remeber is that leather is cold during winter flaming hot during summer cracks after a while and makes you slide around when doing hard cornering...r u sure you want that?
