When do you check the coolant reservoir?

When do you check the coolant reservoir?

Getting ready to go to the STL. Should I look at the level of coolant in my reservoir when the car is running temp. (hot) or after it's shut off and cooled down? Obviously, I don't want to over fill it or leave it too low...

I think the level is higher when the car is on, but don't quote me on that. :)

The level is higher when the car is on. The little plastic tank asks as an overfill resevoir. When the engine is at normal operating temp (about halfway on the temp gauge) the resevoir should be at the "full" mark.
