for those of you who have had it removed... what are some detailed descriptions of the sound output? I did a search and some said it was more of a "drone" or got poppy and a little raspy up top. I dont see how that could be possible since i would still temporarily have my stock muffler and only be replacing the resonator with a straight pipe.

One more thing, is it true that by replacing the stock cat to a high flow one, ex:random technology, it will change the exhaust tone slightly? I thought that the cat in no way effected the tone unless it were a larger diameter. :-? Any info would be appreciated.

you could take it off yourself and get the same sound by just un bolting it. The muffler shop bent me a new pipe to continue out the back

swimshady906 wrote:Yea i did it. Its really not a good thing to do..... Its not any louder it just has a dumb sound now. It cracks and pops ( that also might be because of the blower) But it really is not an improvment in the sound. I know someone had done this and they had a custom one put back in because it was so bad.

what blower???

i have an off-brand N1 style muffler and it sounds pretty nice 2 me... i've never heard the TRD, Apex-i, nor the Greddy cat-back systems but i wonder how mine sounds compared 2 the others... i'm gonna get a custom cat-back later n use the same exhaust i have now or maybe a real Apex-i Universal muffler... i'll try 2 get a video of how it sounds later but that wont b 4 a while... laters

Here are some Sound/Video clips of the Greddy catback on an i4 since you mentioned sound clips. I love the deep smooth sound. Its got like two small resonators.
