would the rip mods supercharger be more cost effective or the v6 engine swap. Does anyone know what the engine swap might cost?

an engine swap is more trouble than buying an actual v6 solara!!

if you plan to do a swap, use a G-head engine

my local performance shop quoted me 6.5k including labor to a 1mz w/SC
I just happen to ask that question yesterday when I got my springs/shocks intalled. Not worth it to me. I rather get the rippmods SC and get more HP per dollar spent. (being that there kit gives you 100HP+) :D I love rippmods and what they have done for the 5s-fe. I would love to get one but funds are lacking.

WITH THE FRONT WHEELS... i talked to the guy and he said that all he had in it was the motor... dont ask how he did it but he did mention pushing the firewall back... i saw it myself!!! i asked how much it costed and all he said was a lot... 2jz front wheel drive is impossible... how the hell can a transverse mount work for that... x_x

this guy with the 2jz inside a mcv20L you are talking about would of made headlines. i think he's full of it. are you familiar with the size of a inline 6 engine?

i can't name 1 car that has this setup.

please until you have hardcore proof of this guy, let us know, otherwise you got your information all messed up.

i would think the reason to move the firewall back would be to put it in the way it is in a supra but you said he had it transversly mounted.. so i'm wondering why he would push back the firewall.. he would more likely want to widen the engine bay :fadein:

see, that guy's front wheel drive 2jz... lol... would have to be mounted sideways... like all front wheel cars (at least that i know of)

Pushing the firewall back for a "sideways" mounted engine... isn't really needed unless it's a w12 lol which will NOT fit in the Solara.

The only 2JZ success story in a Solara is the drag solara... street glow's i think... and it's just a solara shell... other than that, it's a jza80

I dont think it will work because i couldnt think any matching transmission. Also, that means he has to have custom made axle and relocate most of stuffs in the engine room. Of course he needs to fabricate his own fuel supply system, bigger radiator, engine mount (maybe a new front subframe as well, but i dont think he can just swap it from other car), header, down pipe, intake pipe, exhaust system, stand alone ECU...

Additionally, If he made the engine transverse, why he needs to back up the firewall? he should widen his car instead?

2JZ FWD is unhear of (i dont think i have seen any in option magazine too.
