1mz or 2mz???

I'm thinking about getting a 2mz for my 99 solara SLE and i would like to know if anybody know what the difference between the 1mz and the 2mz engine is. And what are the atvantages or disadvantages between the two.

2mzfe was a JDM only engine. From what i recall, it was produced in limited qty's and seized production soon after. I'm guessing now, but Toyota MarkII was one of the cars that came with 2mz for a year or two.

If your referring to the 1mz or the 3mz...my first questions would be: are you wanting to do an engine swap or replace an existing dead engine? cus' if anything...i'd just sell the car if you want go from 4banger to v6. Also, welcome to the boards..and use the search function to see if your questions have already been previously answered!

According to this, They are both 200HP, but the 1MZ is a 3.0L and the 2MZ is a 2.5L. The 2MZ revs a little higher too, but other than that, they look similar.

I dont think there would be any reason to swap a 1MZ for a 2MZ (hes got a 99SLE), so that means hes got a 1MZFE already. I might use less gas due to lower displacement, but other than that, there doesnt look to be much.
