The 1-2 shift is typically a very slow shift except when under hard acceleration. My dad's F-150 also has a very slow 1-2 shift. It really is not the transmission slipping, it is just a slow shift. Slow shifts allow for a smoother feeling transmission. Drive any high performance car and you will not have ultra smooth shifts.
kini,
You are confusing delayed throttle response with a slipping transmission. Our cars, and many others with drive-by-wire technology, have a delayed throttle response. It is not a mechanical throttle connection but rather a computer processing exactly what we are doing with the throttle. I do not believe for a second that drive-by-wire has quicker response like Edmunds.com states. Pressing on the gas in our cars will not make for an instant engine response.
