JPP cat blown? P0420

It sounds like you must have a supercharger. If so and especially if you are running more than the stock 4psi of boost, I would strongly recommend you get the S-AFC-2 hooked up and propperly adjusted by a qualified mechanic BEFORE you get the cat fixed. Otherwise, you might be back. When supercharged, it seems our cars tend to run lean on the low end and rich on the high end. Running rich like that can blow the cat. A propperly adjusted air/fuel compter can take care of that problem. -JoeB

I am running basic 4 psi. I don't seem to be getting that code lately. I still get P1150 & 1153. I should just bite the bullet and get the new air/fuel sensors, but they are 300 per. That hurts, especially when I could buy something else with that!

I hear ya. Nobody wants to spend $600 for repairs. I just meant you want to be sure you have eliminated the cause of the sensors blowing before you replace them or you may be replacing them again. We have other members that have replaced sensors multiple times. No fun. -JoeB

Toyota wanted to replace them both when I brought it in before I got my scanner, so I figure they wouldn't do it if they didn't think it would fix the problem. I wonder if they are not adjusting the mixture properly, causing the intermittent P0420. I should have the SAFC II put in first, as you said, see if the light goes out, and then concentrate on the noise from under the car.

Why don't you take out the air/fuel sensor and check the resistance and see if that's the problem?
