Blue Glow Gauges?

Blue Glow Gauges?

Postby B_Master_Flash » Tue Mar 23, 2004 3:58 pm

I have a blue neon scheme in my car, and i want my gauges to match. I was wondering if there were different colors/brands of glow gauges and if any would match w/ blue neon.
Nascar would be a sport if half the cars were driving the other direction.

I think most of the ones where the entire face glows instead of the numbers (called reverse glow) are light blue, like blue neons are. The reverse glow ones tend to be deeper in color. If you get any non-reverse glow guages, they should probably not match too badly.

i'd say the reverse glow gauges from procarparts.com are your best bet. they are also on ebay. bid for them there.

I have the reverse glow from PCP, and thier nice, but the blue is a very deep blue, nothing like blue neons. (The circles in the middle are about the color of neons, but they have a hint of green in them). If any of you has ever seen blue neons, they are usually a light blue.

I prefer the deeper blue, so it works out for me, but if your trying to match neons, then the glow of the numbers wont match. Not to say it wont look good, but it wont match if thats what your going for.

I got some from PCP, but I didn't get them on ebay. They only have them on the website in the camry section. I like them but they're silver, I dunno if that makes a difference to you.

I REALLY like the look of MGLax13's gauges but I don't want the silver, I'd prefer they were white. I went ahead and bought the reverse glow gauge that looks like miltdoggie's from PCP. I haven't installed them yet because I'm not crazy about the glowing center ring. Also, I've seen some people have put a small red TRD sticker on the gauge face. Can someone tell me which one it is and where to get it? Thanks -JoeB

I snagged a pair off ebay that had them flipped by mistake at first. I think i may have botched the install, because they never lit up. I ended up getting the next set from PCP, which I think are the same as the one that milt has. I also dont like the middle circle, but I like the italicized numbers alot better than the normal face numbers on the other guages, but thats just a personal pref.

The perfect one for me would be like milt's w/ whiteface, and the numbers in italics without the inner ring, but I dont think they exist.

The one that you have of the flipped numbers posted got fixed in a later batch. I acutally like those a little better at night since the KMs light up blue, not red, but they look worse in the day because of the large cutouts for the gear lights and other lights along the bottom. (If you look at MGLax's PCP silverface ones, the cutouts are made for the shape of the different lights, instead of a large transparent bar like the one on ebay. All the PCP ones as far as I know are like this with the distinct cutouts.)

In any case, PCP makes the best quality guage faces I know of for our car. Getting one of thier guages would probably be your best bet. I know they throw auctions up on ebay once in a while for cheaper than retail price from thier site, but not sure if they do that with indiglo guages.

You can see it if you leave the bulbs in the back, and turn the knob that controls the backlightness of the bulbs that comes stock on the car. He probably just turned the knob to off to show off the guages.

Heres some pretty rough pics of what they look like day and night, car on and car off.
