Just bought real HID system!!!

No.. the digital camera I used had automatic exposure, so I just pressed the shutter button. Yeah, I don't know what happened there either..
All I can tell you is that light is about 3 times brigher than the OEM.
You are not getting suckered.. Just drive next to BMW or Lexus with HIDs in them, you will freak out how bright those headlights are.. They are like spot lights... pretty sweet!!

I hope next generation Solaras come with OEM HID like the new Maximas... I love those Maxima's headlight housings and HID system..

Hey, Jay, everything you did for this is reversible right? In case I want to sell the car? I guess I could sell it with it in, but if I do a crappy job it might lower the value.

Yeah everything is reversible...

I just have to buy two H4 bulb adapters from the toyota dealer if I reverse it..

If you buy the kit, it comes with the wiring harness so you won't have to cut those H4 bulb adapters like I did..

but the way you did it is a lot cheaper. Where did you buy it from?

The kits are like 300-400 and your way was half that. I was about to upgrade to PIAA bulbs and that would cost me $160, same as your mod. Course, $80 is for the harness and I guess I could make one like you did/will, my electrical engineering degree needs to be put to work somehow :-/

I staked ebay for few months until I found I wanted...

Pretty much any ballast and D2R bulbs will do...
Just make sure you get phillips bulbs. Osram sucks. Osram bulbs have yellowish tint and phillips have bluish tint..

Jay, have you replaced the wiring on your car yet? What gauge wire are you or will you be using?

Do you happen to know what the current draw is? At www.suvlights.com the harness they are selling is using 12 or 14 gauge wire. If it really needs that much then you probably should get your wiring replaced soon. The factory wiring looks like it's 18 ga.

Yeah... I do need to replace the wirings...

The ballast initially needs like 12-14 amps... then it only requires small amps to keep the bulbs lit.. Our OEM wires can't handle that...

The website I mentioned earlier has the do it yourself wiring diagram...
I was going to make them by myself, but didn't have enough time...
I am going to buy wiring harness soon.. and use the factory wires as the switch to turn on and off...

12-14 amps? Probably get away with 14-16 ga. I don't know, theoretically 18 ga. shouldn't be able to handle it, but I've more than once pulled 15-20 amps across the same type of wiring when I short a proto board or something. I've also done that with 24 gauge wire, it'll burn right through the insulation and catch on fire... :-/

jay, i had a quick question. I have the oppurtunity to get HID bulbs from and Acura CL. My main concern is that cuz the h4 is a dual filament bulb, and the acura is based on a xenon low and halogen high, do you still have a high beam. In NJ we have to goto inspection every 2 years and they test to make sure you have high beams
