Currently with the setup that I am running I am getting oil into the intake after I get all over it... It's coming from the hose connected to the valve cover... I talked to Jim@foreign Affairs and he said that the valve cover hose should be sucking air into the engine, while my car is pushing it out... anyone have any ideas? Also I checked the PCV valve and its clean, I took it off the back from under the S\c, and made sure it was free flowing, and check some hoses.. but im still getting air pushed out that valve cover hose... anyone have any ideas? I was checking hoses and making sure that hoses weren't pinched and I didn't notice any... Also recently if I let my car idle after a while it has been getting pretty rough then will die sometimes... any ideas anyone? Also, Its not like the rpm's are jumping around from 800-500.. its more of it idles at a regular RPM then it will slowly drop and then my boost gauge will show that the vacuum will drop off till its dead and stalls..
thanks in advance
Scott

As I read more into this im thinking that maybe the PCV valve isn't big enough to keep up w\ the new pressure of my total seal piston rings.. a site on the internet said to either make a catch can to collect the oil till the car is off then it will drain back in... or you can put a filter on the valve cover... it says that the PCV valve isn't letting air excape fast enough.. anyone know how you could modify a PCV valve to let more air out faster? possible where to buy a valve that would work better?

hehe it's funny how you answer you own questions when you write them down. I did that in the big brake kit thread when I questioned the functionality.

Anyway back to the subject...
I feel you should replace the PVC and get a breather filter on the crankcase and plug up the part were its open on the S/C or the intake manifold. This can cost you only $11.00 / The tricky part is finding a good fit plug for the intake manifold or S/C in your case. I did this with my 95 camry and found the plug at Discount Auto Parts. I'm going to try and do this soon along with an aditional breather filter on the side crankcase were that hose conects to the intake pipe and also add a plug to the intake pipe opening. I also have to do more reaserch on this like you are doing. I'll look around for your situation and will post if I find anything differ.

Good Luck!!

Louis

huh... I replaced my PCV valve and it didn't work.. the problem im running into is the fact that Air is coming out the valve cover hose when it should be sucking air into the engine... I have made the conclusion that the people who put my piston rings on did them wrong and have to re-do them... It will be covered by them, but its just a pain.. also I have to wait for them to make that conclusion themselfs... so... it will be a bit before they break down and get it done

O I thought it was the otherway around. In from the side (Intake Pipe) and out (PVC crankcase to Intake manifold). My bad. Please post your results. This is interresting.

NO he is wrong. The valve on the valve cover should be breath out air and sometimes with oil. The intake maniford will suck in air. All you need is a oil catch can.

thats wrong.. the PCV Valve is to let the air out and the hose to the valve cover is the breather hose... PCV means Postive Crankcase Ventilation.. it lets the air out back into the intake so it burns off extra gas and things in the air from above the heads, while the other hose off the valve cover is a breather... my rings arn't sealed and Im getting blow by out the valve cover which is why im getting air out that tube

ok i thought you were talking about the one connect to the intake maniford, but yeah its right that it will vent it over the intake pipe. There is only positive pressure inside the motor, it doesnt suck in the air, as you stated

I talked to Jim@foreign Affairs and he said that the valve cover hose should be sucking air into the engine, while my car is pushing it out... anyone have any ideas?

the one off the valve cover is suppost to have a vacuum to it... while the PCV valve pushes the extra air back into (in my case) the S\c

As the engine turns the valve cover hose has a vacuum produced which sucks air into the engine from the intake... that hose is the engine breather, while the air is sucked out by the s\c while also being pushed out by the engine itself.. the pcv valve only lets air out, not in
