RE/RS/Alarm: What features to look for?

I'm in the market for a remote start/remote entry/alarm, since my car came without all those and was wondering what features I should be looking for in these. I found a guy which my friend got it though years ago for pretty cheap for all three w/ install with no complaints, but was wondering what the "on sale" brand/model hes using doesnt have that I might want or need in terms of features or usage.

I have a 2000, and it didnt come with remote entry or a transponder key.

Thanks for any advice. Im a complete newb at this field (I really just wanted the RS/RE, but the alarm wont cost that much more and Im pretty sure it can kick my insurance down too so itll pay for itself). Only feature I know of is trunk release which Im pretty sure the one Im lookin at comes with. What else is there?
