"Thief" problem!!!!!!!!

Postby sackings2003 » Wed Apr 07, 2004 7:20 pm

I gonna install a Navigation on my Solara. I want to know how can I prevent the thieves away from my vehicle?? Although I already have a 2- way alarm system, I'm still afraid the NAV will get stolen by the thieves. :(
P.S. I cannot take the whole NAV out of the panel because it will be totally fixed by some screws. :(

lolz....

There is not real way to stop them from breaking into your car. the safest way is to stay stock.. but then again that sometimes isn't safe anyways.

If you are really afraid of someone seeing your headunit. Tint your windows. so they can see in. thats my best suggestion.

I think a dark 5% tint would do the job on all side and rear windows...and it just might be cheaper than a autobody guard

imho, i think tinting the windows is a worse idea than leaving the fronts non tinted.

it arouses the curiousity of the general public, plus cops.

does the nav unit have a detachable face plate?

make sure your insurance carrier covers the upgraded system.

you can make custom screws with a dremmel so no one out there has the same tool as you as well...

Sensors won't really do much. Get a back-up battery and a couple of piezo sirens inside the car. Make it hurt to sit in the car with the alarm going off. That's what I do. And it's scared off the one guy who broke into my car. He cut the battery terminal and underhood siren, the internal sirens kept going, and he bolted.

That's about all you can do. Remember, if someone wants something bad enough, they're going to get it. Best thing you can do is document everything inside your car for insurance purposes.
