Camber Adjustment kit for Gen 1 Solara

I have my Eibach/Tokico for over 2 years now. Tires usually wear out in 45 to 50K range. But the last time when i brought my car in for an alignment, the mechanic said my camber is way off and i should have put in a camber kit or something. To correct my alignment, he will have to do a little drilling to get the strut to align correctly. I told him to hold off on that.

Where do you buy your camber kit from?

Many places like the tirerack.com offer them, but you shouldn't need one. I have had a 1.9 in drop without a camber kit and I have been fine for 1.5 years and better than 50k.
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

I've got the TRD Struts and Springs and had to have the camber kits installed. It is apparently a matter of metal fatigue (according to the dealer and the independent mechanic I use).

Toyota makes a kit and you can usually pick one up from a dealer for $15-20 (just remember you need one for each front strut assembly).

Yo, is it hard to install? Could I do it myself or have Toyota do it?

I don't really know, I had it put on when the alignment was done so I would guess it's not that easy.

Yo bkp_duke, how far off was your alignment with the TRD Bilstein struts and TRD springs? I got that kit and the springs, now my car rides a lot lower than when I first got it. You think I might need the camber kit or wutt?

Well, let me put it this way - before the kit my camber was so far off on the driver's front that I wore down to the steel belt on the inside (on the Proxies that come with the Revos). The other side of the tire (outer side) had 1/2 inch of tread left.

My camber was not off 1 degree. It was off closer to 6-7 degrees. Reason I didn't have a pull problem because it was off that much on both front struts. So even though I was "riding straight", I was chewing up $160 of rubber on each wheel in 3 months time.

A lot of it probably had to do with my driving. I like to take corners fast just to feel the Proxies grip the road. So I'm sure I put undo stress on the strut assembly.

no, alignment cannot correct all of that if there is metal fatigue (which was my original point)

metal fatigue is pretty common in this platform (camry, solara, lexus es300), probably because the cars weigh a little more than the struts and the rest of the suspension assembly can support over the years.

the shop that works on my car alligned it 3 times before putting on the kit, just because I didn't believe them and didn't want it installed. it just couldn't be corrected with a simple allignment and I finally had to bite.

i doubt they did it to make money on the parts either, since their cost was about $12 and they charged me $15 (with no additional labor).
