okay... this is so weird to me cuz today it was really hot and when I first started my car I wanted to roll down the window and cool off the air a bit. The driver side auto window didn't come down. I was like... dammit the little rotor inside probably died. Then, after the weather cooled a bit, it WORKED again??? what's the dealio?? anybody?

Did the motor make any noise when you pushed the button?

I had the same problem. Fortunately, this was when my 99 was still in waranty so I took it to the dealer. They told me the switch had shorted and replaced both the switch and the motor in the drivers side door. Last summer I had that problem with the passenger's side window. Since it was out of waranty, after driving around with it broken for 2-3 weeks and getting frustrated with it, I gathered a bunch of tools and set out to fix it. Before I took anything apart, I tried it again and it worked. It has been working ever since... -JoeB

I guess what I meant was, did the motor make noise when the window refused to work? If so, then the motor could have some stripped gears, i.e., replacement needed. However, if the motor was silent, then I would agree with JoeB and say the switch was bad. That is a simple operation as opposed to pulling the motor. Put an ohm meter on the switch if it does it again, to see if current is flowing. BTW, is it under warranty? Hope this helps...

the motor didn't make any noise when I tried to pull down the driver side window. So I guess it is the switch that's having some problem.

Thanks for the helpful info!

Pop up the switch panel and clean the contacts with an eraser or a electronics contact cleaner spray
