Brakes...smoky~

Hey all, i installed the new rotors and brake pads, and after like 20 miles of driving....90+, after a dead stop...i can see smoke coming out from both side of brakes. anyone know why?

It's burning off the newness, perfectly normal...should have a smell accompaning the smoke...It should quit after the first few stops (smoke and smell).

yea once the pads wear into the rotors it should be fine.

unless you were doing excessive braking like canyon running fresh brake/rotors should not smoke.

take it easy on the new brakes and rotors.

uhhhh if I do a dead stop from 90+ I will smoke also! take it easy.

well seems like they are gone now, thanks all though...i just went for an hour of driving..hehe....well i didn't use the brake hard....just a slow 90-0 stop....i guess it was the rotor hasn't clean enough

i hope u broke them in also.. ur supposed to go about 300-500 miles b4 using them to the full extent

1) Shouldn't install new pads AND rotors at the same time. They have different break-in methods.
2) You didn't break-in the pads properly and you might have glazed them already.

i dont quite agree w. no 1. if you have fresh rotors and pads, they work hand and hand w/ the most grip since they are both fresh surfaces.

dont you think that's why people have their rotors re-surfaced or turned for new pads to be put on?
