someone on here has their timming advanced.

however my mechanic said that there is no electronical way of advancing.

only mechanical, which i want to try, but it's too much of a risk.

I would only go one tooth, even that may be a risk, valve clearances are very tight on most modern engines.

valve timing

Postby Sentinel » Wed May 19, 2004 8:54 am

I've seen some cars that benefit from a slight change in valve timing: I had an 88 Sundance Turbo (Sleeper Grocery Getter) and "Raced" (He blew me away) another Sundance Turbo, who had no mods other than a valve timing change. Apparently the only difference between the Sundance and Charger 2.2 Turbos was the valve timing. He walked away from me like he had an extra 15 H.P.
But as far as degrees and TEETH! if you went even one tooth on the gear I'm sure your car would run like dog, if at all (Careful not to let your pistons get too friendly with the valves) They make cam gears that have adjustments on them, so you can change the timing just a bit.
This one is for a Supra : I havn't seen one for a Solara.

In essence: a whole tooth on the stock gear is a BAD idea. And there might be no gains at all to moving it just slightly.

Well I can't really comment because I don't know enough about it BUT, it's funny you guys say that because Adam's car runs VERY strong and fast for a car that only has a drop in filter and a TRD exhaust! Trust me, I've seen him drive, he's not babying it either. . -JoeB
