no matter waht you are trying to do....

stay away from wet sanding.

i highly recommend to leave wet sanding for the professionals at a detail shop. I tried to wet sand and the paint came right off :(

Damn, that sucks. :(

Well, does anyone have any tips on how to get touch-up paint smoothed out so that it doesn't look like i just threw it on to my car?

I already applied it, and it looks nasty, but if I smooth it out, I think it would look alright.

HELP!

i know what you mean man....i recommend using pine tipped objects such as toothpicks, etc. When I have to use the touch up paint, I always dip a toothpick in the paint and just try to fill the hole. It may take a long time but it will turn out really smooth.

touch-up

Postby Solara916 » Mon May 24, 2004 6:10 am

Damn...toothpick huh?

I guess I should have asked how to use the touch-up paint before I actually used it. My impatient brown ass couldn't wait. Now the touch up paint looks like a 5y/o went up and tried to fill in the scrapes with white out.

I went ahead an ordered the Langka stuff, and I really hope it works. I'll let everyone know how it turns out.

Touch up paint is real difficult to get right. Best thing to do is to get it looking really good with primer before applying the paint and clear coat. After painting, wet sand with 1000 grit and make sure to keep everything wet. Here some instructions:

Follow the wet sand with polish and you won't see any scratches.

touch-up

Hey thanks man for that link.

If this Langka stuff doesn't work, I'm going to just sand the area down and start all over, and this website is going to come in handy for a guy like me who knows nothing about painting.
