i would go with Tein/tokico,
since i have first hand experience with it.. it handles really good..

or eibach would be good but its your car a uneven look due to drop rate...

but either way you can go wrong..

my solara SE v6 is not auto, i must admit the ride is nearly as soft as rx300, yet very comfortable and fast to drive around, my camry SE on the other hand, pretty bumpy.

my experience with upgrading suspension system on my 94 v6 le, from stock to Eibach springs and GR2 struct, i hated it, it did lowered the car, and corner feels less body roll and stick to the road very well, in my opinion, it has lost all the characteristic of the camry.

i really like the soft and floaty ride of my solara, it has ignored many small pot holes on the road.

It's all a matter of what your goal is, a luxury car or a sports car. I have the TRD/Tokico combo and love the way the car feels now. I feel so much more in control of the car than before, and hell, it still rides better than most cars on the road.

Well... Basically what i envision is a good blend of balance with comfort and performance.......id like to lose some of the body roll but still maintain the cushy ride

All these suggestion and no one mentioned ANYTHING about the crappy brakes on the stock Solara.

Get some new pads and SS brakelines. Best bang for the buck next to the RSB.

Keep in mind if you do get the supercharger you will want to upgrade the brakes in the future.

I agree the brakes suck but with stock power I wouldn't worry about it too much.

However, SS brake lines and upgraded pads made an incredible difference

brakes

Postby Sentinel » Tue May 25, 2004 4:13 am

I guess my last car handled good but had crappy brakes, 'cause I think the stock solara handles like a boat but has decent brakes. I figure if the ABS pulsates on dry pavement, it means they're trying to lock up.
As far as the cushy ride: There are times when I wish I hadn't gone with the Tokico/Eibach setup (Whenever the road is straight with potholes) but as soon as I throw it in a turn the difference is unmistakable.

What kind of brake upgrades are there out there? New (bigger) rotors? Stickier pads? What kind of effect do all these have on the ABS?

The best bang for the buck with brake upgrades are new pads ($75-$300) and Stainless Steel brake lines ($120). The SSBL give the brakes a firmer feel, and the new pads can make a world of difference.

EricSol, a member on this forum, made a caliper relocation kit which allows you to use larger (I believe 13") rotors for the front of the car. It is very inexpensive.

Finally there are big brake kits that start at $1500+

Best bet is the new pads and SSBL. If your rotors are warped or shot, get EricSols kit
