dealers and "qualified" mechanics are expensive. all my estimates were ~$85-90/hr x 5 hours = ~$425 from dealer and a performance shop in columbus ohio.

a local street racing club does installs for $100

I had never tocuhed doing suspension and did my own TRD springs on my 99 SLE and didnt have a problem. Kind of a beotch to get the control arm off the strut though (it helps to pound the allen wrench w/ a hammer). Also be careful about supporting the brakes and such after you slide out the strut assembly. I wasnt too careful and messed up my ABS sensor.

Here is mine

Postby that1mexguy » Wed May 26, 2004 4:28 pm

I paid:

$163 - Tein Springs
$335 - Tokico struts
$300 - Labor

$798 Total

And that is by doing some looking around since most shops wanted to charge at least $400 labor.

Thanks for the offering! I had a leaking strut before but Bilstein told me it's normal, so I wipped the oil off the bottom of the strut and now there are no more oil. I was going to get the Tokico blues in case my TRD set has gone bad. But it seems like it's okay now.

Going back to installers, I just hate the place that installed them for me before. So I want to know if there are other good shops around in the so cal area that does a good job without charging me mid way thru the installation. the place I went to initially charged me 80 for install. Then, when they put in the 2 front ones, they changed their mind and told me 150... I was like... wtf...

that's not the way to do business (i.e. gut up your customers car, then tell him if you want the rear installed, add another $80 or else go home with the front installed only...)

hahahhahaha, just trying to help these local guys out, dont hate, by the way where are the pics of the supposed camber plates you have..... ......

Hey bkp_duck, do you even know what springs are??????????????? :drinking: hahahahhahaha

How much did you pay for your install again?????

No hate dog.

I paid TOO much.

But then again I am on the other side of the continent and it's a lot harder to find guys to put import parts in (too many f*$%^ing mustangs).

Went by the shop today about the camber plates and I hate to say it but you were right (gulp, pride swallowed).

They said they installed bolts, not plates. Which may explain why I still have a drift and wear issue on the front left.
