Well, not satisfied with the first answer I got, I called back a few hours later. This time, the guy I talked to was very knowledgable. In defense of the first guy, this guy explained the difference was the HO (race version) had to dissipate a lot more heat because it put out so much more. When I described my application he said the regular DIS-4 would be plenty. We wouldn't need the HO version until you get up to 20-25psi. Even then, it isn't good for very long duration.
Next I told him that a friend told me that because we had coil packs, ignition upgrades were a waiste of time and money. He agreed that coil packs are much better than distributers because the duration of the spark is more controlable. But, he said that with the stock coil packs you are reliant on 12V to charge the coil packs. He said that any CD ignition system is much better and more efficient not just theirs. They hit it with an instant charge of 480V for the duration which gives it a much more efficient burn. He said on a stock car, it would make just a little difference but with the blower it will be noticeable. -JoeB
