I was at a stop light just chillin like a villian and this foo with a 92 dodge shawdow rear ends me. He was going about 15-20 mphs when he hit me. Luckly, we are both ok. Sh*t, thank god i was wearing my seat belt this time...jesus. Anyway, my bumper looks ok but it got scraped and it's bumped in a little bit.

im sure they could buff out the scrapes but...but bumps, they go in and the surface isnt smooth :( oulwd the shop replace the whole bumper or is there anyway to fix this? also would they check the rear alignment and stuff? should i go to a toyota dealer?

i told that dude im gonna go to a shop and get the estimate for him since he doesnt want to go through the insurance but i still got his sh*t though.

many thanks,

Steve

I had a lot more damage than this a while back (part of my bumper was torn outward) and instead of having the whole bumper cover replaced, I just took it to a paintless dent removal place called DentPro and they fixed it to perfection for $450.

a new bumper cover plus paint runs about 350 including labor at an outside shop, or about 700 from toyota. however, if he does it through his insurance, the shop will give a discounted rate, and u can get it done for about 400 from toyota.

the EXACT same thing happend to me a few weeks ago. actually it was a dominos pizza guy. I had very similar damage, just minor scratches and paint chips on my rear bumper. His insurance paid the toyota dealer to replace my whole bumper for the scratches i had, and they were pretty small. But, they didnt do a perfect job on color matching but maybe thats cuz i have pearl white, and i heard it was hard to match.

by taking to it to a paintless dent removal they will just work on the individual areas and then blend those areas to match the bumper, keeping a majority of the factory paint on your bumper as is, which is already as close as possible to the rest of the body.

i am impressed with the results and cannot even tell where the damage used to be.

but either way, good luck man!

yes longo collision center, and they suck a$$. if your a d1ck then you can go thru insurance and all that bs. some wiener backed out without looking and hit me in the quarter panel. it was very very very minor. i can get the same damage if someone had thrown a golf ball at the rear. anyways i got his info and he didnt reply to my calls so i went thru insurance. the bill ended up being $1600 repairs + 1000 for car rental :D . i drove the hell out of that car rental.

make him pay for it, or be a d1ck like me and go thru insurance

I had similar damage from a lady rear-ending me. Since she was liable for the damage, I insisted on new parts rather than repair. It was only about $600 total. The front of her Hyundai was trashed! -JoeB

daaamn...i didnt know it would cost THAT much. The dood who hit me was like "man, it just a lil scrape, blah blah blah x 234" and at the end..."If you are just cool with the damage, god bless you." lol i just laughed and told the kid that i would call him back and let him know the estimate. I called him yesterday, he wasnt home and i dont think his parent knew about the accident. i didnt tell his parents though since he was a nice kid afterall. well, i will get an estimate for the damage on tuesday and give him a call one more time. this time, i would probably tell his parents...i mean there is no way this kid come up with $600 cash. well he is 17 and he is insurance would kill him if i file a claim...hmm we shall see what happens.

thanks for the info. guys

This happened to me too, but it could have been worse, just be glad your ok and that youre not wearing a neckbrace right now.

Call a paintless dent removal place..."Dentmasters"..etc
They can fix some of the minor damage on your car. I cant see how bad the paint is scratched, but it doesnt look horrible, the black stuff can be buffed out or try using adhesive remover.
