60,000 miles v6 service??

60,000 miles v6 service??

Postby G_Unit » Wed Sep 10, 2003 11:00 am

Whats up everyone, I am interested in some ideas..I am getting a 60,000 mile service done on my 2000 v6. I am getting a slight clicking everytime I turn to the left (drivers side noise)...I used to have this porlem with my 92 v6 camry,...cv joints, aughhh.....anyways, I thought that I might as well get a service done, getting the oil changed switching to mobile 1 synthetic today, and gettig the tires all rotated and balanced, thanks to a local tire kingdom hookup. I went by the dealer and asked them about their 60,000 mile service and from what the service guy told me, they basically will clean and test my battery and look at what needs to be done, maybe change the spark plugs, and thats about it, for like $369.00, thats pretty steep, after I add the cost of some factory brakes and pads, man I dont even think I want to see my estimate.

So I am wondering if you guys could recommend anything??

I know I am going to need new brakes, they are weak, I want to be able to stop on a dime, How much and where to get I guess is my main question, and does changing the brake lines make a tremendous difference?

Also is the rear strut bar still available??....and how about the best place to get shocks and struts....I currently have the stage 3 suspension (TRD) and really dont like the ride quality, handles awsome, still some roll, but is way to stiff....any recommendations on this??........ Thanks, AmitG

for the 60K, refer to http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopi ... aintenance

upgbrading brakes makes a big difference. don't do brake lines unless you do rotors and pads too.

rear SWAY bar is still available

check http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=3342 for the shocks/strut deal going.

wow, that search function is great isn't it?! :D :o

Cleaning your battery: you can DIY with baking soda and something else (Yanks knows). Spark plugs you can DIY too... why bother wasting money on all that... the main things with the 60k service is timing belt, water pump, and fuel filter...

upgrade brakes pads go to... http://www.zer0.info/solaraguy/viewtopic.php?t=5172
and like Davpak said... do it with the rotors

Rear Sway Bars (RSB) commonly used come from TRD or Whiteline... check out the for sale section every so often

And if the ride is too stiff, go back to stock... just like how Flipside said, "For performance, you gotta sacrifce some things"

Hope that all helps

Battery cleaning is easy-peasy.

Disconnect the terminals. Mix up 3 parts baking soda to 1 part water. Scrub the corrosion off with this paste applied to a damp towel. Dry and reconnect terminals, then wipe them with petroleum jelly to prevent future corrosion.

I heard cola works great as well.

anyone know the best place to get the IK22 plug?
