TRD air filter vs. K&N

TRD air filter vs. K&N

Probably gonna get fried for this, but here goes... :drinking:
I got that shitbox Weapon-R shortram and have noticed that my throttle response ain't what it used to be...So I thinks to myself, "Why don't you go back stock with an aftermarket filter?" Now, I got 3 optional outlets here:
1) Go with a TRD drop-in filter.
2) Go with a K&N drop-in filter.
3) Buy the extension from UR.
Give me the ups and downs of each, if you don't mind...Kinda want the TRD, but I have heard little about their performance. Anyway, Thanks!

Neither one of the drop-ins will give you noticeable power. I had the TRD on for over a year and noticed nothing when I put my paper filter back in. I would atempt to find a CAI ext if I were you. UPFD made one to work with Injen intakes. Try seeing if you can modify it to fit yours.

Yea, no noticable improvement for the filters. I sold my injen short ram because of the throttle response thing. I still have the filter cleaner so I bought the K&N drop-in filter.

Yeah, I'm wanting to do the CAI, but was still concerned with the throttle lag...So should I just go back with a stock filter in the air box or what?
thanks again...

I have to CAI(injen+ext.) and I love it, IMO it was well worth the money. I love the sound it makes, and my car is more responsive now. It's probably because of my supercharger, but I'm sure it would still be of use to you as well.

For TRD and K&N, I didn't notice any real response when compared to the response I felt with the CAI. To me, it seems like the air flow is just very rescricted. If you're not planning on or don't have a s/c, I'd stick with either one of these.

For the extension, I did loose some low end response. But, I noticed it really does 'kick in'. It feels like its getting a big burst of air. Now with my s/c at higher RPMs, I believe it's not getting enough fuel. I think I need to get Jim's fuel upgrade kit and URD Fuel Pump Upgrade Kit. Anyways, the extension is definately worth it s/c, so I would assume its gotta help if your n/a.

I'm not positive, but doesn't K&N make the filter for TRD.
