I personally have to shift at higher speeds because of so many damn hills here in GA, but i'd say 3-3.5K rpms sounds about average, or maybe less if going down the hill :drinking: cheers!!

my manual said 2nd @ 15mph, 3rd @ 25mph, 4th @ 40mph, 5th @ 45mph

is that normal?

Yeah we are discussing manual shifts. Auto has a mind of its own! hahaha

I can get my auto 4cyl to shift like that in 3rd when flooring it.

nope, still lookin to sell the 5sfe :-? but anyways, this is really pissing me off, cuz one of the reasons i wanted a v6 was to preserve the life of my engine cuz i figure id get just as good acceleration at a lower rpm (seriously, in the avalon, never take it above 2500, and it picks up real quick, same engine too!). but i donno why the solara is geared diff, and it sort of makes me mad that ill have to be spooling the engine up just as high as my 5sfe. i guess the power in the v6 doesnt really come along til 4000-ish, but im not really interested in getting raw power out of it, jus good acceleration at low rpm. and i kno 3000 rpm isnt that high, and toyota engines are built to last, but i mean im sure its better off only revving to 2200-2500 instead of 3000. blah, this prolly sounds like a buncha BS to you guys anyways

I drove around today shifting at about 22-2500, and its actually still pretty decent acceleration, but not enough for my inner demon, so i'm still gonna be shifting at 3k+
