I was driving down a one way street. It was a 4 lane street and I was in the far left. The guy was at a stop light in the number 2 lane, I was passing him on the left side, he thought he was in a left turn lane, and as I was passing him (yes I was already half way passed him), he makes a left turn right into my car. My bumber gets ripped off, as well as a big chunk of the bottom of my trunk. (That's right, if you open the trunk, you can see into the street). The paneling that goes from the passenger door all the way back to where the bumper used to be is totaled. New rim got f'd up. Afraid that the rear axel is damaged. And to top it all off, it happened 2 days before my birthday.

Damn man, I am sorry to hear that. What kinda car was it that hit you? Did the guy have insurance? Just aslong as it wasnt your fault, you can get things fixed again. If your car is a total loss, atleast you know you'll be getting a new ride thanks to the insurance company.

accident

Postby Solara916 » Wed Jun 16, 2004 1:28 pm

Thanks guys...

The guy that hit me was driving what looked like a 1980's Chevy van. It was pretty much a tank because there was no damage to it what so ever. I checked Kelly Blue Book, and a 2000 Solara with around 83000 miles is only worth around 7K, and it is going to cost around 6K to fix everything (and that's with leaving the estimate open because they don't know how much damage if any, happened to the axel). I don't really know what's goign to happen because pops wanted to take care of everything. I don't want to get rid of my car because it's such a good car, and I JUST got new rims for it. But I'll have to wait and see what the Auto Body place says about the axel and the overall frame of the body.

Just curious, has anyone ever dealt with and Auto Repair shop for the same reason, and gotten something extra by working behind the back's of the insurance company? I want to get struts and springs for my car, and I want to see if there's any way I can get them through this whole situation without paying for them myself. :) :evilbat:

Sorry to hear about your accident. IMO, I would just find another Solara with less milelage.

My Solara is already paid off, and a car payment is the last thing I need right now. I'm the one that put all those miles on there, so I'm not worried about that. The engine is in great shape. I thought about getting a Tacoma or a Titan, but again, I decided that a car payment is the last thing i need. :)

So true. I finished one and now have another. Well, at least I can use another car when I start doing some major engine mods. 8)
