I get 7 secs, with my subs in the back too. Plus I only use 92-93 octane.

Car and Driver...

Postby mcgervey » Wed Jun 23, 2004 12:39 pm

Don't quote me, because it's been a few years since I read the review, but I think they found 7 flat for the 5spd v6 as well...

These things change with temperature, elevation, car, driver, etc. though, as most of you know...

7 flat for C&D is still pretty good stock though, and those guys aren't a** kissers as much as MT and R&T... They like to tear cars up...

I question the validity of this report. Ask them to show us a MT SLE.
Are these accurate reports? They also did not state v6/4 cyl. Looks like
4cyl times. I know it doesn't take me 16.3 secs a 1/4 mile, even with my twin 10" subs.

I also question those numbers...

Who was driving? The guys from Consumer Reports?

One stat doesn't even know what kind of transmission it was... Found 7, that would be the V6 manual with a real driver behind the wheel...

Sh*t, I think our 03 Sienna would beat some of those numbers when I floor it. :)

Here is the faq from the carstats website.

Where do you get your data?

All data is taken from a variety of car magazines and online resources. Each source is verified and entered into the system by car-stats personnel. Unverifiable resources are not entered into the system.

I wonder if C&D is the Car & Driver magazine.
It's strange that the automatic has a faster time than the manual.
Most reviews I read on the Solara said the automatic was a few tenths of a second slower than the manual on the 0-60 times.
I'm sure the 7 second time would be a manual.
I've noticed in reviews that include a rolling start, that the times from a stand still will be faster. I guess it's quicker to do a brake stand where you launch with high RPMs. It must have been a heavy reviewer with a full tank of gas and a weak right foot in the manual review.

i do not trust any car websites or reviews because half the time they dont even launch or shift fast or at redline. it all depends on how you drive the car.
