Changing Gas Tank cap

I went for my smog check this week and I passed! yeah~
But the guy told me the spring in my cap has lost tension and I need a replacement. For the knowledgeables, does this cause check engine light to come up?

Thanks in advance

no, it's not on. but when I had my intake on before, it was on with the s/c and for the longest time I couldn't figure out what's the problem because it points to leaking vacuum lines and I didn't find any.

When the spring wears out on the gas cap, it can make the CEL come on. If you leave the gas cap off, the CEL will come on. The bad part is, when the spring is just weak, the CEL isn't consistent. It's possible that could have been the CEL problem you had but my guess is it was one of your connections on the intake. -JoeB

it's weird because if I have the intake on, I'd have the CEL come on and when I swap back to stock airbox, everything is okay again...
