Im using stock bulbs. Silverstars dont even look CLOSE to the look of HIDs when they're next to each other.

HELP!

Postby SolaraT » Thu Jul 08, 2004 3:55 am

So like I installed my HID kit last night and my Fogs don't wana light up now. That sucks! Anyone got a fix for that? I wanted to take a picture and post it but them here for you guys to see but the darn things did not turn on.

I'll post on a new thread if needed.

I have to say that the HID is crazy stuff but I rather get silverstars to be honest. I need to retrofit a HID lamp in to my halogen lamp somehow and ain't got time for all that. :o

Yes absolutly. I decided to take these suckers out this weekend cause it's not ment to be in a Halogen lamp at all. Plug and Play yes but thats only half the job if you realy want to put your investment to use. Here is an example pic of what I mean. Notice the light bouncing all over the place in different directions. Well in person it looks so bright but much glare and can imagine what someone would be going through with there rear view mirror.

My fogs don't wana light up. I'm sure they will when I take them off. I'm taking this kit off temporarily till I can retro some BMW or s2k HID Projectors.

www.hidforum.com

Check it out.

I don't think many people have done this for the Solara but I've seen Camry peeps do it so it's posible. The projectors are not that much money to come across. It's getting them to fit were you can come across custom fitting. If I can pack this in neatly I might even consider doing this for people for a small fee.

Here is an example of what I want to fit into our lamps...

Back to topic. The Fog Lights! As you can see hyper white halogen bulbs wont come close and will look off.

So anyone know why my fogs did not come on?

I'm running HID's in my fogs, but had to take my HID kit out of my headlights after EVERYONE was brighting me... if you find a way to get the projector housing in the lamp... LET ME KNOW!!! I have a HID kit ready to run.. but don't want to be "that guy" on the road

Did your kit come w/ a shield covering the bottom part of the bulb? And did you aim your headlights lower?

Yes the kit came with the shield covering the bottom portions. My lights are kind of off, pass side lower then the driver side and I'm having a hard time re aiming them. :-?

That knob on the lamp is so tight in a corner that I don't have a tool small enough to squeeze in and turn it. Any ideas? The fact that the lights go in different directions like that turns me off and after looking at what HID projectors can do I'm stunned. :o I think it's worth it. Plus the projectors look so cool in day time. Now to find some old gen 1 headlamps so I can practice. You'll know when Scott trust me everyone will know.

I would also like to drive in front of my car with another to get the experience that another driver would. Also incoming from the opposite direction. :o

No one has flashed me yet but also don't wana inconvenience any driver and by "That Guy". :x
