Atleast with auto you can without any added stress drive and be able to brake the car while havin a female do the hheeemm hmmm har harrr. YA kno.......

shifting between D and N is not good for the gears and 'can' lead to tranny wear. If i'm at train crossing or when i'm going to be waiting for 2-3 minutes, i put my a/t in neutral and wait it out...i'm have a a/t i don't pretent it to be m/t. Pretending is just

Ive been doing that alot too, for about 5K now. I guess im getting bored driving the auto.

So I guess I should stop now? Its like a bad habit now....not sure if I can.

I do try to RPM match when I take it from N back to D, but Im guessing that doesnt help things right?

I figured it was alright since when the clutch is out in a manual, its like putting it in nuetral..or thats what I thought.


Also thought I was the only one who did it, so I never thought to ask.

its doesnt wear anything out shifting from drive into neutral. but when you shift back, esp if you're moving, it puts strain on the tranny because the coupling has to wind back up (or something like that.....in fact, that might be complete BS, so correct me if i'm wrong).

I use to drive like that too on my old maxima automatic. MAN I GOT HOOK to it. did it allot too. D to neutral doesnt ruin the car at all. 100% guranttee. but putting from nuetral back to D doesnt either. 100% gurantee. its like having your car in park and switchin it to D. but if you gas it alittle and go to D from neutral, expect good bye transmission. I did it so much (especailly when i race which i go from neutral down to 1) that one day i was driving and my gear locked on my and my maxima..good bye..so its ok as long ur opening ur throttle. leave it in idle then back to D then gas wont harm it one bit.

So I shouldnt try to RPM match for when I shift it back? (Ie, slow cruising around 2000RPM, so I cruise a little in nuetral, rev to 2000 and shift back to D) I figured it be easier on the tranny since it doesnt have to go from an idle to 2000RPM by itself. Or are you talking only about from a standstill like a torque launch? I know thats really bad.

Im sure it wont hurt anything simply shifting from D to N and vice versa.

Revving up and neutral dropping will stress the internals of your tranny however.

That is exactly true. As long your not reving. You can do it. I miss my old car. I only did this reving thing for 3 months and it was so annoying to drive it since then with all the hard shifting in the auto
