ok this is a continuation of an important topic that came up in the fog light HID thread.

for those of you with HIDs, what are you doing to prevent blinding other drivers...it seems like everyone so far is actually blinding everyone else on the road with the HIDs, which defeats the purpose of having them (HIDs are technically for 'safety', but blinding an oncoming driver is NOT safe).

Ive only been high beamed once, within the 7months Ive had my kit. Maybe you're just in an area where one in every 30 cars or so has HIDs?

I aimed mine a little lower then stock. I have not been high beamed once. For some reason my beam cuts up like i have a shield(projectors) but i really dont. Kinda werid. Also i dont get much glare from my HID kit.

If you ask blue solara he looked at my HID's at a meet and said i had a good beam and didn't give out much glare.

So i think its jus how you aim it. I used a techic i learned from the HID forums. Ill try to find a link when i have some time. it worked out well for me. had my kit for over a yr now.

as far as HID in fog lights.. what a waste of money. IM using my stocks since my 3rd set of solver star blue out in the last yr. and i installed them correctly without touching the bulbs...

Our cars need a projector lens solution bad. I dont even have HID's and the reflector housings leave a lot to be desired, even with silverstars.

http://hidtech.com

You can send your headlamps to them and they will install HID projectors for you. $300.00 labor (Not including the projectors, bulbs, & balast) They'll even smoke out your headlights for $75.00

I just sent them an e-mail for a solution for me.

:bday:

If you know me, I don't like to mess arround and jack things up.

sorry to advise on this badwagon a little late...
but hari these are ur options if ur wanting halogen hid's.
1. Casper capsules (h4)...they prevent it further...but its always there (just back paint the bottom side of the reflector).
2. home grown reflectors...(some people actually did smart things with a coke can!!!).
3. using reflectors from IS300/RX - basically using a car that uses hid reflectors....(i think that would work if done right).

solarat, if you do the thing with hidtech.com you will be doing the Solara community a service, I believe. Once they have the initial blueprint for putting projecters in the Solara headlight, it will cost less for others to get theirs done there as well, I think. Just check out the projects list they have on their site. All those cars cost so much to figure out how to retrofit projecters initially, and might cost less for those who have their car model already done.

I'm very interested.!

^ Yeah pretty much they get your lamps and retro fit the projectors for you. They make money by charging you the installation fee. $300.00 The rest is for equiptment you need to buy. Projectors and D2S bulbs & balast.

So if your saying when I get them back to examine them, take all round pics, and to the best of my knowledge provide information on how to DIY with an attempt to save everyone money? Then I will try to do that sure no problem.

Unless anyone else is willing to give up a detailed DIY first and save me some money on this installation.

Thanks man! They do the same thing too.

They put it nice and profecional and packaged neat.

It's all about risk. Checkout there disclaimer on the order form...

I hereby authorize the work herein set forth to be done along with the necessary materials. I hereby waive my rights to hold Illusion Lighting liable for any foreseeable and unforeseeable damages as a result of their work. I understand that this work is legal only for show, race, and off-road purposes. Illusion Lighting shall not extend any warranty on parts sold beyond thirty (30) days.

The hidtech has the same type disclaimer.

I think its worth the risk and investment after hearing nothing but good results.

Hi Louis,

Thanks for your inquiry.

To be honest with you. Your aftermarket H4 HID kit will NOT be compatible with any OEM D2S xenon projectors. I would sell them first and get OEM D2S standard HID bulbs and ballasts.

Since you have H4 dual filament type of halogen bulbs, then this will leave you no choice but to use Bixenon projector, which mean you will have HID for your low and as well as high beam.

Following is a breakdown for this project:

$450 Hella HID system including Hella bi xenon projectors
$300 Rretrofit customization cost
$150 Type E projector enclosure
$50 Plug and play wire harness
$50 Return shipping and handling within the US

Let us know if you have any more questions.

Sean
