i have had an idea and here it is (tell me what you guys think). i was wondering if it would be possible to drop the 2jz motor into my 99 solara v6. im thinking that the hardest part would be converting the car from fwd to rwd. how much do you guys think that it would cost if at all possible? im in the chicago area and if you guys have any suggestions let me know. it would be greatfully appreciated.

This has been talked about a lot. Another hard part is pushing everything from the firewall back. The engine bay barely fits the 1mz engine...Just look here http://www.bullishmotorracing.com/ and see if you can afford that.

1. The 2JZ barely fits in the engine bay
2. The 2JZ requires a RWD drivetrain... the Solara is FWD
3. RWD means you need a rear drive axle... which requires a full redoing of the rear end of the car.

Imagine doing this. Taking out the 1mz engine and tranny. And everything else off the car, meaning you're done when you just have the chassis left. Nothing in the engine bay, nothing in the suspension area. Then putting in everything Supra. You must be rich to do this swap as it will run you into the $15-20k. You will essentially be building a Supra from the ground up and putting a Solara chassis on it. With the Supra being discontinued for a while now, all these parts will be near impossible to find. I'd recommend buying a Supra so you could have a cool RWD car and a cool FWD car. But don't tease yourself by dreaming about it! It hurts to tease yourself with something you can't have.
