I just got the injen intake with a k&N filter. Never having an intake before I never knew the joys of open throttle. I was wondering what sounds crazier. CAI or Short. I did a search on this couldnt find jack.

They kinda sound the same. The only difference to me it that with the CAI extension the sounds seems more noticable. I think it's because it sits farther away from the motor. But, it does get pretty loud at WOT.

Seeing as the only CAI available is an extension of a Short ram, if you're really serious why not buy an Injen short ram and if you're not happy get Danny's extension?

I find the CAI to be a bit louder, but it's a performance increasing loud (unlike the short ram), so go for it :).
Let's just pretend I didn't grow up, or you're going to be terribly disappointed.

Good choice! I didn't like my short ram much, but when I got the extension it was awesome. I love to open it up now, it makes my s/c whine like crazy! Plus, I ordered Jim @ ForeignAffairs fuel kit, it's gonna be sweet! :P

:drinking: ...one question. Isnt getting a ram air for the V6 solara bad? since there is no room for cool air to come by but only the hot air off the engine. i see no free cool air flow at all to the ram air intake. Is that bad for the car in the end?

to get cool air to it you need to buy danny's extention (mentioned above, check the FAQ'S and sticky section). Your car is already taking in hot air off the engine, so i honestly doubt buying a short ram that takes in the same air is going to be bad for your engine.

The short ram also negates tip-in response and the car doesn't seem to get as much power to the ground...as for the sound, it can get harsh at full throttle, but generally sounds pretty good.

Air flow is circulated in the engine bay when the car is moving :D , but when you are stopped at a light thats when you suck in hot air. The CAI extension would be the way to go.
