and don't give me that "you should have brought a v6" crap cuz I heard that as long as I been here in this message board. people know the v6 kicks butt, but they look down on the i4, so it would be ideal to build a sleeper with the I4.

Ahh ok. thinking ahead. I like that. Hey trust me I'm not one of those guys. I also have a 4cyl. I also have been there several times hehe.

Good Luck with your mods!

That's a Toyota! "Get the feeling!"

I'm confident it will workout great for you. If you had my car you would have already boosted it. Nice supercharger kit/application already existing! Unfortunatly I'm still paying for my car and got other priority items to care for. Dang I wish my car was paid off!

You will live my dream then. Go forth and boost that ride! :D

For the first part about the SC, thats about Gen 1 and 1.5. It doesn't apply to you. There is not even a SC for your car.

I like your point of no show all go, but it doesn't mean that the I4 will be a better sleeper since it looks exactly the same as the V6. In the V6 you have 225hp to go from, while your I4 will need lots of mods to gain back that difference of 68hp(since you have 157hp). It might be a sleeper to us V6 Solaraguys, but maybe not other ppl. The idea of a sleeper has nothing to do with what engine you have. It has to do with the appearance and history of your car.
5-speed V6.
TRD Supercharger.
TRD Short Throw Shifter.
Tokico/Eibach combo.

To his defense: I think he is trying to say that for the i4 is going to be off the hook and does not want to compare to the v6 models at all. He is stuck with the i4 and wants to make the best of it as he said. i.e. compared to other 4cyl cars and a standard 2az-fe Solara. I think that's allot to be proud of once you accomplish it. Got to give that.

Yes the v6 is the ideal place to start but he just doesn’t have one.

Me, I stopped my plan for boost because my ultimate goal of outrunning a lightly boosted/modified v6 was going to cost me lots. Yes, there is a way. :D
For the cost I might as well take that money and buy a fast car to begin with.

I would not have gone as far as getting a trd front strut bar with the "HOPE" for a TRD supercharger. I would have done that once I'm doing the installation. He has determination and a goal. The way he is talking it doesn’t even matter if TRD has a fitting for him and will find a way to boost his ride.

Ok I'm done.

SolTech wrote:pardon me mister, but it will take more than 10 grand to make a civic run in the low 13. there is the motor swap, a GSR engine cost about 6000 dollars and you are looking at 3000 dollars to get it installed by pros unless you are a mechanic. then there is the headers 200, cat back 200 - 300, the transmission: you are better off with the manual so 1500 dollars to do the tranny swap if its an auto, LSD, Light flywheel, clutch, etc. Big brake kit, suspension, sway bars, struts, wheels. you have to pay more than just 10 grand, its more like 20 grand.

A civic can't run super fast unless a motor swap is done and forget about the newer civics, they weight close to 3000 pounds and almost no difference in performance gain from the last models.

if you ask me, it takes at least more than 10 grand to make ANY car go truly fast. If you ask the TRUE enthuasist out there, its not about the money, its about the love. if everybody was conversative, then the tuning scene would not exist.
whoa 6000 for a GSR engine your smoking some good shlock-dock-wikki-wacki-dacki maybe a type R.
GSR's are only $3500-$4000 installed or b16 for $2500 installed over here and i can get the GSR engine for $1500 and the install will be $400 from a buddy of mine
and for 10 grand you can make a civic go 13's easily
and all the lil knicknacks you want like big brake kit and rims are not needed to make the car faster

Doing a motor swap or putting in forced induction is what modding and tuning is all about . . . custom work. Plus, you could easily get a decent 92-96 HB, 2DR, 4DR civic/teg with a built B18C1, B18C5 or B16 motor for 10 Gs easily . . . especially down here . . . all depends on what you want to do.
