DRL with HIDs

I just bought the real HID conversion kit and had it installed yesterday but for some reason they stay on constantly like the day time running lights would. However, i disconnect the plug under the hood a long time ago which disabled the drl. They havent worked in months and now that i installed the HIDs, there working again. Does anyone know anything about this? Was it that the installer did something wrong? if so any suggestions? Thanks

ummmm lets get it straight ok, its never that the installer did it wrong, its either you dont know how to use em or dont understand

I have HID on my Solara w/ DRL disabled.
So double check the wiring on your HID.

happy what HID system do you have and do they still have hi beams.

The only ones that i have found so far that support dual filament H4 HIDS were a phillips 6000k Stage 2 bixenon kit, but its over $800

ive got a question, why do all those sites that offer the hid conversions say they are not dot certified and for off road use only? why would i wanna use it offroad only? :\ also ive found a conversion for 500

My guess with the "off-road use only" blurb is that it is either: 1) used to cover the retailer's liabilities, or 2) allows the retailer to sell non-DOT-approved product. NO aftermarket HID "kit" is DOT-legal, so if that's what you're looking for, don't bother.

The difference between the two is the color that the bulbs put out. The 6000K bulbs put out a bluer color. Rule of thumb: The higher the Kelvin rating, the less effective the light.

Actually it depends on the situation, 6000K is about exactly where you want to be on the Color scale. The color scale is based on the colors of the rainbow and they were assigned a kelvin rating of light temperature.

Red is the lowest
Orange
Green
Yellow
Blue
Indigo
Violet being the highest at around 9000k

If you stay around the 6000k scale you can actually get the brighest light, which is why most factory HID cars give off blue light.

Also those kits are only low beams therefore can not be considered street legal.

well i ordered the Philips H4 VisionPlus and the 9006 Premiums, how hard is it to install the fog/driving lights?

Any particular reason you say ~6000K is the brightest light? I've been told that ~4100K is the optimum rating, given its high lumens. Most OEM HIDs use ~4100K bulbs, but because of the prismatic effect given off by projectors.

Also, I have yet to come across a street legal kit, could you please direct me to the street legal ones you're talking about?

No Hi beam, but it's already bright enough for me.

Also 6000k provides the most effective light because of its color. It is a real clean illumination. The 4300k lights may be brighter on the facts sheet, but its just that the blue hue appeals more to the eye. I have driven in both 4000k cars and 6000k cars. I have also been in a car with 9000k head lights and it just seems that 6000k are brighter.
