Tranny Dip stick question
On the oil, i usually check for the level of oil and the color of the oil (golden = great, golden brown = time for change). However, what are the things to look for in a tranny dip stick. I ask, cus i check everything at every gas fill up, and in the past two times the tranny dip sticks not been completely red anymore. I did do a drain & fill approx 20K miles ago, and in another 8K miles i plan on doing my 60K service that would entail the tranny flush. Now, depending on the color, i may have to do it sooner. It shifts smoothly, and its not like i abuse the car (80% of the time i'm on cruise control). I don't peel off the stoplights..and take my time to reach posted speedlimits. I know i needed a new tranny on my ES (thankfully Lexus covered that as it was under 75K powertrain miles). But isn't 52K too early for a tranny flush, for a car thats only seen the highways (yeah, i bought my solara as a commuter car).
