You really shouldn't need 91 or 93 octane if your n/a! However, i do fill it in, the topic has been discussed till death here..and in the end, we all believe what we all believe, we never changed people's opinions. I fill 93 cus':
1. wifee doesn't know when to fill 97 and when to fill 93 (we drive different cars so we stick to one grade)
2. Its advisable to fill higher octane in winter months (but not many do)
3. I do get extra milage from the higher octane..
Yea, I agree its been beaten to death, but whats this with higher octane in the winter months? I thought it was better to get lower octane in the witner since what octane does is make gas less prone to combustion. In other words, what Ive heard is lower octane gas burns easier. The reason that lower octane is more prone to knocking is that its more likely to burn when the piston isnt fully compressed.
Whether thats true or not, I'm not sure, but since its cold in the winter months, wouldnt it be advisable to get something that burns easier?
I get 93 all the time in any case. Why? It was part of the deal when I parents chipped in for the car, and thier believers in high octane gas making the engine last longer. If it were up to me, I'd just get the cheap stuff. I dont think it really matters for these economy 4-bangers. No real reason it should knock unless its boosted.
