Security light on Solid.... Lights staying on? Why?!?!

I put in a new stereo in my 02' Solara Convertible today, and I'm not exactly sure why but tonight when I got out of my car and locked it up,

the headlights and the driving lights were still on.

Prior to today, whenever I took the keys out of the car and opened the door the lights would shut off (as the car I guess assumes I'm not in it)

I unplugged the clock, and the hazard lights as normally directed in order to get the console out.

Also, when I locked the car tonight the security light remained on a SOLID RED.
I'm afraid tomorrow morning my car's battery is going to be dead.

The stereo is functioning as normal, it does have a yellow battery hook up wire (for memory purposes) but this is normal, and the radio can't be turned on when the car is off so I don't think the car thinks it has some weird thought that stuff is still being used.

Do I have to remember to turn on and off the car lights now?
That would suck.

Anyone with any experience?

it might be on "valet" mode.

where that the alarm does not sound off.

as for the headlights not turning off once you open the door, was your engine still running?

The engine was off, keys are out of the ignition.

Not sure much on the 'valet' mode, I don't have instructions to the alarm, not even sure exactly how it works. : P

I didn't know OEM alarms had a valet mode mole??

I think what he's saying is that if we look at our OEM security gauges, when we depress the "Lock" mode, the security light stays on 'continously' for 30 seconds. Pursuant to which, it blinks. His has stopped blinking...

And as far as the headlights turning off when you open your doors, i'm guessing the shop that did the install on your new stereo tapped into the wrong wires...

yeah, is it a factory alarm or an aftermarket alarm? is the word "SECURITY" lit up on your dash? if so, i'd see the dealer about it. quick fix.

if you have an LED light that's staying on, it's in valet mode.

I installed my stereo, and everything seems to be in order with it...

I haven't figured this out yet, but earlier when I finished driving and I had the lights on, I opened the door and the lights turned on, I tried it again, but the lights didn't turn off.

Can anyone else explain this valet mode in detail?
I kicked a lot of things trying to put that stereo in, maybe I hit something or repeated an action too many times.

any suggestions?
