remote start on a manual

remote start on a manual

i ran a search and saw a lot of topics on remote start, but i dont think anyone has done it on a manual. i saw a kit on ebay with an immobilizer bypass for not too expensive, i dont want anything fancy, jus a remote with a good range that can start the car for me. when i emailed the seller to ask about the MT, he replied

There is a wire on the unit that grounds when the car
is about to start. You hook that up tp a relay that
will send either (-) or (+) signal to the clutch
over-ride switch to make it think it's depressed.

does this make sense to everyone, should i do this? oh and btw, i never leave the car in gear when i park it, i know this is a danger with having a remote start on a manual, but im willing to risk it 8)

I know couple of guys that have it, not on a Solara though. It was for about $200 and both have manual tranny. The starter will check to see if the car is in gear or not, I don't know how that is done, but I've seen it not working when the car is in gear. If its not, then the car would start, I guess it bypasses the cluch.

I wanted to do so, but didn't have that extra $200.

Lucky...I TRIED to do it to my car and no much of a help from anyone. My car autostart still doesnt work and I have no dandy idea why. The negavtive thing I hooked it to that wire located on the E-brake. So Im sure I got that right. Everything else is done correctly. Now the part that I think im still doing wrong is the ignition crappers...Can anyone explain what option of the alarm wire goes with what color on the ignition? Like Starter goes to red on ignition etc......I been waiting soooo long haha no one ever helped me on my last forum.

i dont know if this is applicable, but on my buddies gen1 teg you can start the car without the clutch only in first gear, i dont know if you would be able to rig that up yourself tho

Yea the motor definitely "bypasses" the clutch on manual cars . . . it is ILLEGAL to have on manual cars though, due to the liability of the car moving forward if it is in gear. A few of my friends have it and I think it is fricken sick! If you guys have a crappy alarm or don't have one . . . I would definitely recommend it. It costs roughly the same as a good car alarm anyways. Try Viper.

I put a remote start on my maual celica. Works like a charm Just don't leave it in gear, if you do, then make sure you have the e_brake on b/c the car will move if its in gear. Just had to bypass the clutch sensor by putting the wires together.

what brand do you have? also, you prolly have a transponder in your key so you'll have to get a bypass module that will send the signal to your ignition column. (DEI model 555U, or 555X)

A/T, or M/T??

ignition tap from the ALARM side is usually yellow. ignition wire IN THE VEHICLE is Black/Yellow in the ignition harness.
