i agree. i had a CAI for a while, and then removed and sold it cuz i wasnt planning on doing anything else to the engine for a while. but then going back to stock sucked cuz i could feel the paper filter being so restrictive, and the acceleration was bogged down. then i installed the K&N filter (got it for only $10), and i must say i was thoroughly pleased with the difference it made. I would say about 70% of the power increase I felt with the CAI, I could feel with the filter (keep in mind, if you have an SC, the CAI will make a much bigger difference). I plan on taking the resonator off soon which should help a little more. My advice to all you guys out there, if your NA, you don't need a CAI. Save some $$ and stick with removing your resonator and getting the k&n filter. i agree it might not sound as deep or good as the true CAI, but performance wise, i think its about 80-90% as good, with less than 1/4 of the cost (if you get the filter brand new).
i know im bout to start a sh*tstorm in here, by the way, but im not tryin to hate, just giving an honest opinion from someone who's tried all the different options, so dont flame me
