ACT Clutch - HEEEEEEELP!!

that1mexguy - Is there anyone near you who can help you do the install? It'll take you about a day (maybe two) if you have no experience, a full set of tools, and a friend handy. I think if you really don't have the money to pay for a second job you can do it yourself. Also, I'd have the company that made the mistake pay you for the labor since you wasted your money with a faulty product =/.

I completely agree on the last part, but get this, I talked to RJ and he tells me he installed one this morning and it fit fine and everything. He has certainly helped us so I find it really hard to think that he is not being honest, and at the same time, the shop I've taken it to is one of the best in town at the work they do. They have done some amazing work on other cars, they have worked on my car before and there is where most of my car club people take their cars... (and i'm not talking about just any car, most are Lexus, G35's, Supra's, etc). They are willing to take my car in again once I find the right clutch for it, but this time they will be getting it for me, at whatever deal I can get one for, all I have to do is find one, tell them where i'm getting it from, and they'll make the purchase just to make sure they are getting the right part. So with that said... I really dont see why they would want to screw me like this. RJ said he will "see" if he can get me a refund for the part, or else I should take it to another shop, but come one, what if the part dont fit, again? should i make him liable for the labor cost as well? obviously there is only one way to find out if it fits, and that is taking it apart. I hope he can understand that i CANNOT afford this, unless someone is willing to take the cost. Now, about me taking it apart and doing the work, if that was possible, I would've done that in the 1st place, but (1) I cannot afford being without a car for 1 day, and (2) if i F* something up, I will be screwed even more. Im stuck between he said, she said type of deal and the only one that can save the day now is RJ by allowing me to get a refund and then get the part back to ACT. The shop I am talking about is http://www.mahdavimotorsports.com/ they are very reputable in this area and have been around for years, I have faith they know what they are doing. They have done some zhiet you wouldn't even think of.

out of curiosity let me know how it goes man, find out if "maybe" there is a trick to it or something. I dont know what to think, and but what upsets me is that im out $400, and if RJ doesnt want to give me the refund, that will be another $400 ... dunno about the rest of you guys but to me, that is a LOT of money :-? I'm thinking about getting SPEC clutch, what do you think?

Well, I won't say a clutch swap is one of the easiest to do, and I'll even goto saying labor wise and time, it's one of the hardest. However, I can say that it's pretty hard to 'screw' something up. Unless you don't resurface your flywheel or leave an important ground off, you'll have no problems. I remember my first clutch swap, ah, memories... I really loved the black dust, and the 15 extra bolts that I managed to hide in the dumpster before any of my friends started laughing at me :D. If I were in the area I'd give you a hand, but I'm not =/. Sounds to me like the wrong part got put in the wrong box, it's been known to happen...

I was told SPEC clutch is as good as CLUTCH MASTER's, I have CM Stage 1 on my car and its a good a** clutch, it is a little expensive compare to other brand but it's well worth it. (the part number is actually listed under the MR2 so you will have to contact CM for this) i don't happen to have the p/n on hand.

p.s. since you're doing your clutch might as well get the fidanaz light weight flywheel too, it's a very good combo, save labor money if you do it at the same time.
