the Ebay intakes are missing one hole for one of the vacume hoses. . . the cheap filter they give you don't help much either. . . You don't feel any power gains from it. . . I felt more from the Injen SRI

i dont know why peeps say theyre so bad. i bought one for my honda that was like 25 shipped and had it for over 3 yrs with no probs at all.Had the deep sound and whatever hp it gained me.. no probs wit mine and i know other people who bought them also that didnt want to spend all the money for the "name brand ones". I would recommend getting one for people who dont want to spend alot of money on one.Just my opinion if u want to save some money

I'm responding to both comments.

For most honda's they didn't have the MAF sensor either which is why honda's/Acura can run them without problems.

The reason that most Toyota's dont like those is that they set of the CEL because of the MAF sensor. Its reading that too much air is pushed in but your not offsetting the fuel it needs. If you look under the engine bay of most Toyota's they all have MAF sensor. Most early 90's even to early 00's hondas didn't use MAF sensors. So they dont have that problem. Otherwise why would name brand intake cost so much. Its because they had to spend the money to R&D a product so that it matches the car without setting of engine codes which cause lost of power.

The cheap ebay ones have not been R&D'd. They just throw some pipes together to make the angles to fit the car and call it a day. Their was not logic behind the process of their product. Thats why they are so cheap. They can careless if if provides gains for even correction of air/fuel delivery for the spec. car.

Hope this helped..

You can't compare a product on ebay for the Solara to a product on ebay for a c5 Vette.

As "06 Toyo Chick" said it worked good for her Honda, it didn't work so well for our Solara's. Not all cars are the same and your basing it on just our cars which isn't really gonna help because the applications are totally different especially comparing a muscle car to an import .

Keep in mind, you get what you pay for in most cases and its the buyers option to decide what type of quality product he or she is looking for.

Alrighty Im an experience guy on the ebay intake...

Solara isnt not a honda..... So that shouldnt even be compared in the first place unless you really dont know your car then I feel sorry for you..

Ebay intake are cheap because get a ruler out and measure their diameter fromt he stock one.. Then look at your MAf sensor.. Its true the bigger the intake on a MAF sensor the harder it is for the car to pick it up..

And if you end up buying one and have no CEL Lights, its not because your getting your kick ass performance... Its because your car is running slower thinking its not getting as much air... My K&N drop in filter does better crap then that ebay crap.. So it doesnt matter if you dont see CEL light or not. Your not getting any power from it... TRUST me on this. The EBAY Intake ISSS robbing your power and making it allot slower then you think.. Yeah it sounds bad ass and roars so loud but its really having no power... I tested it already for over a year so I would know..

The ebay intake is only good for one thing....A crack Pipe or custom piping for you intake.. Search solara guy, Youll see my reinvention of the POS and made it work... Other then that I have an Injen ram air with extension Ebay ram mid pipe to cold air extension into the fenders.. Im getting the best power oout of it finnally...

So Listen to me.. Dont bring up ebay intake pipes again... Its all a lie what they claim.. its robbing power but making you think its giving power because of its sounds..

No kidding!! The way I see it, if you have the money for a C5 vette, you probably have the money to go with the better performance mods. I wouldn't want to get an expensive car then risk putting the cheapest upgrades on it. Like say they tried to sell it in a year with cheap upgrades put on, would you buy it compared to if it had brand named quality parts?
