I may be leaning towards the Tantrums though.....is it just me or do these two wheels pretty much look identical??? I've seen the MR7s on several Solara's but haven't gotten to see the Tantrums on a Solara.
Do you all think that the Tantrums weighing 5 lbs. less than the MR7s would make any difference?
These wheels are knockoffs of the real Advan Model 7's. The tantrums have been out longer than the MR7's. The reason I picked the MR7's was that the Tantrum was only available in silver. The reason why you see the Motegi line of wheels at Pep Boys is because the parent company is American Racing out of Rancho Dominguez,CA (here in SoCal). As for Konig and Motegi, build quality is both on par. In my books, both companies produce cheap rim copies of other original wheel designs and all have them manufactured in China. The MR7's have a 10 hole (dual lug pattern) 5x100 and 5x114.3mm design or 4x100 and 4x114.3. The Tantrums are just strictly 5 or 4 lug. Either way, both rims look great and they will always be an Advan Model 7 copy. It's just a matter of if you want Silver, Gunmetal or even White. If you wanna see 18" tantrums on a Solara...go to Camryman.org...and hit the PASTTIMES link and search through the Solara gallery. Rookie Solara is the guy you are looking for. He has a Black Sand Pearl Solara. He's had those rims for quite some time now.
