Q for anyone with aftermarket flywheel/clutch

Ok, first off what clutch and/or flywheel do you have? Second, what difference have you noticed from switching from stock? ANy likes/dislikes? With the flywheel in particular, do you have to rev the engine more to get the car moving? Is your car any faster with a better clutch/lightened flywheel?

the clutch catches at a higher point so you dont need to push as far to change gears. It takes a little getting used to with the different catch area but its definetly a better feel. As for the flywheel I had my mechanic grind it down and balance it to just about as light as a fidenza. It revs a little quicker but its hard to make an accurate comparrision without a dyno or time slips as to how much better it performs.

South Bend Rally series clutch, stock resurfaced flywheel. Clutch engages much quicker, feels stronger, pedal is much lighter than stock. I love it. Does take a little getting used to.

Fidanza flywheel with spec 2+ clutch. Definitely have to rev the engine more to avoid killing it on a restart. Clutch is super catchy. Definitely will take some getting used to. Overall, car revs much quicker and when I finally get it broke in, I know this thing is gonna hook up sweet! Overall, very solid setup.

While we're on topic, Question...

If I SC or spray my car, anything like that, will I have to upgrade my clutch?

Also, aside from a dead stop in 1st, how do the aftermarket clutches work out in between gears, namely 1st -2nd and 2nd-3rd. Does it just catch quicker so you have a lot less give with your timing?

I'm still on a stock clutch and probably will be for at least a little while as I'm not even over 80k. But when I put in a new one I'm definitely going to upgrade.

For whatever stupid reason I have so many ideas whenever I see your new car. I would so go with a black and silver theme. I think shaving your emblems and switching out the front silver T with a black pearl emblem T would look HOT. Also rims like mine would look hot. Also those blacked out headlights with APC Titan Bulbs as well to keep the black/silver theme going. As I said I have so many ideas Im thinking in the future of picking up a 5S-FE Solara in black with a manual, dropping a built up 3S-GTE and 1MZ-FE manual tranny and dropping it on 20's (making it a weekend car). Maybe Im hoping you'll like my ideas and try it on your car and then I can see if it looks good for the future . Jon

So, youre basically youre saying you have to rev the engine more when moving from a dead stop? Is it a lot more? Any increase in acceleration?
