-UPDATE- Strange noise, but only when it rains????

Just picked up car from dealer. Found out my rear strut towers were covered under my extended warranty so I had them replaced. The initial test is good so far. Drove through some puddles which normally would cause the rear to bang around. The rear end seems tighter too. Tomorrow will be the big test at the car wash....

As usual, I always have some strange quirk with my vehicles that no one seems to be able to fix.

This time I'm getting a knocking/tapping noise coming from the trunk/right rear area of the car when I hit certain bumps usually while I'm turning. It sounds like something is banging against the inside of the rear quarter or under the trunk pan. Almost like taking a 5" piece of fuel hose and hitting a metal panel. The strange part is I only here it on rainy days.

My trunk is empty. I've checked the spare and jack to make sure they are not sliding around. I've pulled both panels inside the trunk to make sure nothing was caught behind. I pulled out the back seats and the noise still persists. I've checked the struts up and down and side to side and all seems quiet. I have yet to get under the back of the car to check suspension components but plan to this weekend when I change out my rear brakes.

Any ideas?????? strut bearings?, loose e-brake cable?, fuel line???

I dunno if this'll help, but i'm gettign the same thing, noise when going over bumps from rear passenger panel. But mine happens all the time over a bump.

My mechanic says its the rear caliper and its cradle. I need new ones because there loose, i think.

Hope this helps.

You might have to tighten the bolts on the OEM RSB, and the brake caliper bracket.

One time i was takin' the front passenger caliper out, and thought i tightened it tight, but it was still loose; and heard a knockin' noise over some bumps.
Found out it was the caliper bracket.

Sounds like your rear support assembly bushing gone bad or your rear hub bearing gone bad.

I had the same and got it fix. sounds been gone for ever now.

Some sort of bushing sounds right because I only here the noise in the rain. Maybe the water causes some side to side movement in one of the bushings where it may stay in place during dry weather. Sounds weird....

Did you guys who had noises in the rear hear them all the time or just in the wet weather???

I just took my car out again since its pouring here now and the noise absolutely gets more pronounced the harder it rains. Specifically taking turns....

Do you have an aftermarket exhaust? The Greddy is known for having a weird noise when water hits the hot pipe. Also, on my apexi world sport, the muffler was hitting part of the frame when I first put it in (although i'm not sure why it would only happen on rainy days for you)
