-UPDATE- Strange noise, but only when it rains????
Just picked up car from dealer. Found out my rear strut towers were covered under my extended warranty so I had them replaced. The initial test is good so far. Drove through some puddles which normally would cause the rear to bang around. The rear end seems tighter too. Tomorrow will be the big test at the car wash....
As usual, I always have some strange quirk with my vehicles that no one seems to be able to fix.
This time I'm getting a knocking/tapping noise coming from the trunk/right rear area of the car when I hit certain bumps usually while I'm turning. It sounds like something is banging against the inside of the rear quarter or under the trunk pan. Almost like taking a 5" piece of fuel hose and hitting a metal panel. The strange part is I only here it on rainy days.
My trunk is empty. I've checked the spare and jack to make sure they are not sliding around. I've pulled both panels inside the trunk to make sure nothing was caught behind. I pulled out the back seats and the noise still persists. I've checked the struts up and down and side to side and all seems quiet. I have yet to get under the back of the car to check suspension components but plan to this weekend when I change out my rear brakes.
Any ideas?????? strut bearings?, loose e-brake cable?, fuel line???
