I'm sort've boosted, if you want to call it that. I finally got around to installing my nitrous today.

*disclaimer* This paragraph contains information on the hardships of the install and may be boring*****

The universal kit I got made a few things kind've har,d ran intoa huge delay (about a 5 hour or so one) with the fuel line. WTF is up with the plastic inside of it? I first tried just cutting down on the plastic and calmping the hose onto the T bar, but the hose is just an insulator, and can't handle fuel pressure. Several attempts and broken clamps later I decided I needed to go buy new fuel line, which I did. Then it was still leaking at the part that adjoins the plastic with the metal line going into the fuel rail. After trying several different ways to patch it and starting the car about 6 times with fuel going EVERYWHERE, I finally got that worked out. For now I have all the wiring under the hood uncluding the switch and lines going to the fuses. It's very ghetto rigged right now, but I just wanted to get it working tonight to go to the track, which ended up not happening because of how long it took me. Soon I'll fix everything up and touch up the rough spots. I'll also get a new switch and mount it in the actual car this time. I also need to seal off the hole that runs the Nitrous line into the trunk better. So 2 trips to several different auto stores, and a full ten hours later everything works. I'm confident I could do it in 1/4 of the time now, it was just hard to feel things out.

Now to the fun part. I decided to only run a 50 shot until I get a new fuel pump so I wasn't expecting much. Anyway... HOLY crap! On only a 50 shot bye bye traction in first gear on relative new Kuhmos. The funny thing is before I got too much power to keep the car steady from a stop, but now because of the nitrous going from a 20 roll or so I definitely stand a better chance of getting traction from a stop in first gear over a roll. As for second gear, I only ever used to feel a strong pull in a few spots, now it pulls me back throught eh WHOLE damn gear. I didn't have the time or road space to test out the rest of the gears. I don't even want to know what's going to happen when I get the 100 shot going.

Anywho, I'll stop my happy ramblings here. All materials included, a little over 500 dollars and about 15 man hours (spark plugs and install included) and an elapsed month and a half later, and I'm happy as I can be with my nitrous. I just need to get that 190lph fuel pump from URD and slap on the hundred shot and go kill me some mustang GTs.

why didnt you just connect the fuel line to the fuel rail? I've been trying to figure out if for the solara that will work fine because i just got nitrous as well and I dont think you really need to cut the fuel line, just tap into the fuel rail with the adaptor. Anyways, i cant wait to get the nitrous in myself, sounds fun.

It IS possible to tap into the banjo valve and use an adapter. I don't really knwo how to do that but wish I would have looked into it more. My t-bar didnt' fit the stock fuel line with the plastic piece inside properly so I had to get a whole new fuel line to connect to. Everything ended up working just fine though. That's just a small problem that came up that I wasn't at all expecting.

cool, thanks for the info. Where on the intake did you drill the hole for the spray? I've got a cpe intake and I'm really dreading drilling a hole in it.

Sup guys...

Dont have too much fun blasting the NOS, a.k.a laughing gas...

I dont know what kinda pressure the stock engine can handle...

Just hope you dont end up turning into guinea pigs.

Im happy for you, a 50 shot is conservative.... but I would not suggest going over 75 shot on stock internals.

Good luck

I was absolutely dreading this as well, so much so that I had myself convinced I could find a better alternative. In the end I ended up drilling into it about dead even between tha maf and coupler going into the manifold. I drilled it a little more towards the firewall from the top so it's sort've coming from the back. That was what worked best for the way I mounted my solenoids and ran my lines. I actually mouned my Solenoids on the stret bar upside down right next to the strut. There's a little hold there that worked perfectly to mount the bracket to and it's grounded as well so I grounded a few wires with my ghetto setup straight to that. Also with drilling into the intake the fitting for the jet is made to press a stock rubber airbox hose flat to leave no room for air to escape. Obviously the CPE intake is solid metal and won't allow the nuts to press flat so I used some RTV instant gasket maker crap, it sealed it up rather well although I'm still having a small issue with the jet being pulled by the braided lines so it sprays toward the side. Right now I have it taped up so it will spray at a direct angle into the manifold which is ideal. There's a few kinks to work out but all in all everything went and is still going well. I took my first solo ride in it today and with no passenger the lighter weight picks up much faster.

I have one issue right now though. Does anyone know of a place to run wires thorugh the firewal from the engine in the Solara without drillin a hole? I found one spot that may be a plug near the AC high end on the passenger side but haven't gotten to test that out yet.

As for the stock internals ahndling the power, as far as I know it's all good, it's been done before. The thing about running a higher shot is you're in danger of running lean without a new fuel pump to allow the flow neccessary to mix the proper parts N2o and proper fuel.

Oh also to Jhenty, what happened to the supercharger? I thoguth you were going that route. Also be sure to use iridium tipped spark plugs.

You will be Fine with 100 shot as long as you are tuned correctly. And you can run a 100 shot of a wet kit on stock fuel system and bottom end. I did if well over 2 years before i upgraded the Nitrous kit This year

aka the sauce :drinking:
CAI, 3"Custom exhaust ,Ground Kit, Trd quick shifter,P&P 3 heads and intake, .flywheel, spec stage 3 clutch, LSD,RSB.ES control arm busings, spring+struts

- Im still going the supercharger route, just gathering the final parts for it. The idler assembly is being made right now by a machine shop and other than that I just need to get a few more bolts and such. I picked up the nitrous a few weeks ago to add with it as well. I plan on running a 35 shot normally just to cool the charger down a bit and a 50 at the track. I've got the iridium plugs already in there so Im set for the nitrous, but I'm going to be going with those NGKs that were mentioned in the forced induction forum thread. I should be installing the nitrous within two weeks and Im not sure when the charger will be all set to go, but hopefully soon, I honestly can't wait. Good luck with the nitrous, I'm sure I'll be sending you a PM soon about the best installation with the CPE.
