Coilovers are a strut/spring combo... you wouldn't need another strut... (unless you're saying something that I'm not understanding)

http://www.solaraguy.org/viewtopic.php? ... highlight=

Some ppl gotta do some research as well lol. How low was your drop? The shop dropped mine to 1.5" all around. I might drop it another 0.25" or 0.50" if its possible depending on the possible height setting feasible. But have fun breaking the Tein SS's in! Wut setting are your fronts and rears at? I know my fronts are @ 4th click about from hardest on the dampers.

FYI= Don't call a coilover a Spring/Strut Combo :P The Strut is far more complex which is called the damper that can set the compression rate and ride height. A Regular strut only relies on the factory set compression rate and the bumper stomp which allows only so much of a 1 time setting change.

And also, Simple Car Tech Formula Coilovers > Strut/Spring Combo
Every D1 Driftcar uses Coilovers. For other racing events I don't know since I only like D1 but theres a high guarantee that most cars sport coilovers!

Small lil edit. Some coilovers have a electronic damper controller which allows for the most easiest settings without needing to pop open the hood or a couple panels to get to the damper setting knob. Saddly, the Solara Tein SS's isn't applicable, but when i last read I think the Celica Tein SS's were applicable for the electronic controller. Beat the lame Strut/Spring ppl to the ground!! lol :evilbat:

Tein has been making coilovers for the first gen Solara for a long time! Even the Gen2 model has been out for like a year or so now.

Coilovers will always be far superiour to any spring/shock combo you can get. And as far as I know, all the JGTC, D1, etc pro race cars use coilovers only.

I use Tein coilovers on my track car and they are absolutely amazing! If anyone needs Tein, come to me ;) All models for all Solara, in stock!

And for those of you on a budget I can get Tokico Struts.

Thank you everybody!

Im proud of my baby... lmao

I think Im about 4th click from stiffest, the drop was done at one inch from the bottom of the threading.. so if you do your math, its about a 2 inch drop up front, and 2 in the rear.

Potholes?.... Ms. Keys, I will watch out, but ummmm...... the ride quality is better than stock, due to its stiffness, but it has a lot of forgiving attributes.

You know where the Cross Island parkway splits to the Whitestone bridge/ 678 heading towards Grand Central Parkway?.....

Well, I took that turn towards GCP @ 80mph.... didnt even break a sweat, and no tire squeal. :evilbat:

Wanna race me now Toyochic?... lmao thanx 4 da email ;)

Oh yeah, newbies....

(beating a dead horse.. but ok!)

Coilover suspension is a complete setup, adjustable struts, with adjustable spring perches, that allows you as a driver to adjust the general behavior of your vehicle, to suit the needs of daily/track driving.

I know Ground control sells a coilover spring set, that is meant to be used with tokico shocks, but I would invest in either Tein, or JIC, and save myself the headache.

Oh yeah, most of you guys get to see the IS300 rims, with newly mounted Yokohama AVS ES100's 215/45/w17

VERY NICE!!!!

What made you go with the Tein over the JIC's? I'm debating between the two.

What activities do you use your car for mostly? (going to work/school, shows, drag, ciruit, etc)
