ROFL Hmmm I was expecting some of the perverted Comments so that was on the money. Anyways, the paddle is a little joke that has Seme and Uke on the paddle. Basically meaning something like Male/Female *cough* in rough terms. I bought it for her so she wouldn't get bored out too much since the Hilton didn't provide free internet service so she was lil internet deprived even with the convention going on.

There were also two other paddles available called the YAOI(Gay) and YURI(Lesbian) Obviously, Anime has some interesting aspects of love and what the fans enjoy from the Anime/Manga companies and how crazy it got at this convention. *stares @ a girl holding up a sign "Will Yuri for $1" *

Basically those are leg warmers mostly worn by japanese school girls in Japan during Fall/Winter time. And yes, she's wearing heeled boots. Think the heel was about 2-3". I've known her ever since I moved from Hawaii to Arizona for college back in 1999. And she's legal enough to drink! :drinking: Wait... i don't drink... she drinks ... *ponders* Good times though. Glad her BF is kewl with me.

This thread is getting a little too perv for me.

BUT, japanese girls dont wear crap like that. An old fad was to wear really really really loose socks (pronounced "rusu socksu") that fell down to their ankles and was supposed to make their legs look thinner.

The only people who wear those things are cosplay freaks. If you dont know what cosplay is type it into google/yahoo image search and enjoy.

Sorry, I know too much, I was a school teacher in Japan for 2 years...

Sorry Mike - I think I started it. But, it would have gone there regardless. LOL

[Friendly Off topic debate] The socks thing is not like what I've seen in Japan. I kindly disagree on two parts. 1) I've seen some non-traditional styles with the younger crowd in Japan. I think she'd fit in fine. 2) I don't think she's anything similar to a "cosplay freak." That's pretty weird. I haven't seen any of that but then again, I don't hit the trendy clubs in Roppopongi (Tokyo). LOL

I don't think she was going for authentic Japanese attire. Otherwise she'd be sporting the school girl skirt and jacket. I give her credit for being bold anyway. I'm sure it was effective. The really, really, really loose socks fad is still there in Japan. (As of my last visit in January) I suspect it won't go away as it's functional more than stylish.

oh, its on!

Just kidding. People do wear those things on their legs but more as a fashion statement than leg warmers.

As far as fitting in, sure, just loose the paddle.

Cosplay freaks dont go to clubs. They go to video game/anime conventions.

They usually dress up like comic or video game characters:

As for loose socks,

I have seen girls ride home on their bikes in the rain with those stupid socks soaked with about 10 gallons of water. How is that for functional?

Bahahaha! Lose the paddle. I would say that stands out.
I never thought about the soaked socks. I have seen this during typhoon season but never made the connection with whata pain that must be.

Thanks for the culture lessons.
