A little "loose"? There should NEVER be any opportunity for ambient air to get either PULLED into the intake between a boot/hoseclamp seam or pressurized air escape from within...
What do you mean by LOOSE?
Basically, the clamp should be very snug, but not enough to "damage" or "cut into" the boot itself. (Does that make sense?)
NOTE: The TIGHTER you make it BEYOND the requirements of a good, secure seal... the shorter your longevity of the boot, in many cases.... but by all means, don't make it LOOSE to where the band can be rotated or the boot moved.
