In the past, if you bought the tunable box only, they skip the custom gen1 maps which I need and say to tune it myself. I just want to be able to use the tunable box with the R&D they have done to make the gains the got. Reason I dont really care for the actual pipe itself and really wans a tunable box that is "tuned" is so that I have base maps to start with and can adjust for my s/c and other mods from there.
Once again: I'd like the tunable version of the box that is tuned as if I bought it with the kit, but do not want to pay for the pipe or filter. Hope something can be worked out.
I see where you are going with this.... but don't forget, the engineering behind the system is much of what you are paying for.... and the system is exactly that --> a BALANCED package that is developed as an INTEGRATED kit. If you are going to go through and do all your own "re-development" from a TUNING standpoint, perhaps it would work.... but the "BASELINE" in the tuneable "customizer" unit itself would no longer be a true BASELINE, since you are "breaking up" the integrated system and certain "assumptions" will be lost.... (In the case of my Gen 2, the single variable of air-flow volume/velocity/etc... alone through the large 3.5" pipe is such a big factor that changing this pipe size, bend, length, etc..... would likely NEGATE any pre-existing MAP in the first place.... requiring extensive work to re-establish your baseline....)
Perhaps you are planning on doing that type of work with a DYNO anyway, and that's why you are "skimping" on the kit? (I would think you'd EAT UP the cost of the balanced kit portion you are wanting to leave out and save on in the first hour with a DYNO.... and that wouldn't TOUCH the tuning baseline achieved by CP-e's development work....
JUST MY THOT's, guys.... I could be BONE-HEADING it here.... dunno....
Maybe I just don't GET IT?
EDIT ENTRY --> Yeah, I re-read your post, and I'm not sure you understand the premise for what is being called "BASELINE" as a MAP..... this BASELINE stops being a properly tuned baseline the moment you alter the inherent component array that the tune was initially set up on in the first place..... leaving out CP-e's pipe, or any other intended configuration variable that was part of the original baseline tuning, is just asking for trouble unless you REALLY know what you are doing..... Just think of how different flow characteristics are between a 2", 3", 3 1/4", 3 1/2" etc.... pipe size.... not to mention length, bends, etc, etc.... Think of it as tuning a "BAFFLE" tube in a sub-woofer. Inch by inch length and small diameter changes greatly impact the frequency of tune.... etc....
Okay, enough worrying about your project.... GOOD LUCK!!
Just CALL JOSH and talk to him about it....
